OK, So We Didn't Win
Jim Bunning to Stand for Re-Election in 2010
Basically, my beef with Mitch McConnell was that he was not representing me and my fellow Kentuckians properly. Jim Bunning, who is the Junior Senator from Kentucky, comes up for re-election in 2010.
Time is short. Good People of Kentucky. I need you to again make your voices heard. Mr. McConnell has won the election and we definitely need to be vigilant about the efforts of the Federal Government. When you call the Senators about the issues which matter to you, please remind them that I, Daniel Essek, as a Candidate for United States Senate, spending less than $1,500 of my own money, and a $120 in donations, without signs, handouts, or advertising, got 14% of the Statewide Vote.
Cleaning Up My Mess
Ok, so maybe I got a little carried away, like my wife said. There were many problems which beset my campaign. The major one was my boss, Kerry Knight, cancelled, without notice, all of my home time. I did make it home a few times, but it was always short and late. Mr. Knight even kept me from making my Doctors' Appointments.
I now have a new job. I have spent my fortune on the Campaign. I am now broke and trying to catch up. I have reduced my budget and am making great progress at catching up on my bills. When this is done, I will go back to updating my website. I will leave all the pages up, so the new people can see my positions on the issues and have an opportunity to make their voices heard as well. I do not roll over and play dead, nor do I give up easily.
Mandate From the People?
Do we have a mandste from the People? As I watched the results coming in, I was agast to how well I was doing in the election. The early results had me at 45% then later went down to 10% then back up and settled in about 15%. The range when the results settled were from 12% to 20% but generally were around the 13% to 15% range.
My expectations when everything was all said and done was that I would be lucky to get 5% of the vote. 14%, almost 30,000 Kentuckians voted for me? Truly, if noone else has heard your voices, I certainly have.
Jim Bunning, Please Hear This:
I have heard the voices of Kentucky crying out about the Loss of Liberty, you and Mr. McConnell have begun to bring about. I am researching your positions, voting record, and background to ascertain where you stand on the issues.
The People will tell me if you are representing them properly, and if you are not, they will donate to my Campaign against you. I have mede a Contract with Kentucky. You were voted in with the Contract with America. You have broke your contract. I will not break mine. The time of Politicians ruling this Great Land of Ours is coming to an end. I, a Statesman, am standing ready, willing and able to take you on if you do not represent the VIEWS OF THE PEOPLE.
I Love the Challange
During the Campaign, I had learned a lot about Politics, Myself, and Kentucky. The People are wonderful Human Beings who deserve to have THEIR VOICES HEARD. In the 2008 Primary, I was not successful in defeating Mr. Mitch McConnell, but that does not have to be the end of my political carreer.
I have made many contacts, and I intend to make more. The assistance of my Committee Members has been invaluable. They have, without remuneration, given of their time to do what they could to help me get elected.
I NEED YOUR HELP TO CONTINUE
Do I have a mandate from the People? I need your help to find out in 2010. I have until January, 2010 to raise enough funds to take time off work and campaign full time.
