Ronald Reagan on The Commonwealth of Kentucky Senatorial Election of 2008, Republican Primary

February 2, 2008

No, I am not digging up the dead.  Due to Sean Hannity's proclaimation of being a "Reagan Conservative," and his challenge to the candidates to compare themselves to Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States, from 1981 until 1989, and  who was born in 1911 and died in 2004.  So, I have done it.  I have researched some notable quotes from the President and here is my analysis.  Please make comments on this one.  Thank you:

"We've gone astray from first principles. We've lost sight of the rule that individual freedom and ingenuity are at the very core of everything that we've accomplished. Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives."

I believe the Rights of the People should be protected.  These rights are Given by God:  Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.  We have International Terrorism Threats facing this country and my opponants will not secure the border, or eliminate their supply line.  Mr. McConnell has, instead, assisted the President and supported him in making our Government Bigger with the Department of Homeland Security.  This Department is the single, greatest threat to our individual liberty ever imagined.

"These young Americans sent a message to terrorists everywhere. . . . You can run but you can't hide."

What happened to President Bush's promise to get the Terrorists?  Using force against those Nations who harbour them?  Where is Bin Laden?  Why don't we have him?  He has been indicted for the 9/11/2001 World Trade Center Attack, so where is the Justice for the American People?  Why is Bin-Laden not dead or in jail awaiting trial?

"When you can't make them see the light, make them feel the heat."

Mitch McConnell has been contacted by me several times regarding legislation.  I have also requested meetings with him.  All this has been ignored.  For the Cause of Freedom, I am compelled to Run for This Office of US Senate.  I have found Mr. McConnell uninterested in the Welfare of the People, rather, he would Cater to his Special Interests.

"Nations do not mistrust each other because they are armed; they are armed because they mistrust each other."

Allow me to rephrase this to "Government mistrusts the People because they are armed, but the People are armed because they mistrust the Government."  Remember, GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE.  IF YOU TAKE THE GUNS AWAY FROM THE HONEST CITIZEN, YOU WILL LEAVE THE HONEST CITIZEN TO THE WILL OF THE CRIMINAL.

"We must not look to government to solve our problems. Government is the problem."

DITTO.  I am running for US Senate because I see the problem.  I want to fix it.

"Man is not free unless government is limited."

I feel we need to totally consolidate the Operations of Our Government.  Especially in the Executive Branch.  The President currently holds and excercises the Powers of a King.  Ruling by Executive Order.  This power MUST BE CURBED AND LIMITED.  THE PRESIDENT MUST BE ANSWERABLE TO CONGRESS.

"Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes

This year, Congress authorised $9 trillion dollars debt.  Need I say more?

"The problem is not that people are taxed too little, the problem is that government spends too much."

Not much I can add to this.  I agree with the statement.

"We don't have a trillion-dollar debt because we haven't taxed enough; we have a trillion-dollar debt because we spend too much"

Mr. President Reagan, we are up to nine trillion dollar debt now, sir

"There are no easy answers' but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right."

The simple answer is, Elect Daniel Essek for US Senator from Kentucky.  For the Cause of God and Freedom do I run for Office.

"Within the covers of the Bible are all the answers for all the problems men face."

Within the covers of the Bible, or the Torah, if you prefer, is all the direction men need to govern themselves.

"We are never defeated unless we give up on God."

We are never defeated until we give up.  I will not give up.  The price for MY LIBERTY IS TOO HIGH TO GIVE UP!

"Without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure."

Without a moral compass, Men cannot govern themselves as civilized men.  They become animals, preying on each other to see whom they can devour.

"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction"

I believe the Union has reached a turning point in the Affairs of State.  I believe this is the most important election in History.  I believe if we do not elect good men to office in this election, we may lose our Union to Communism or Facism or some other form of Powerism.  Already, we have a President who Reigns as a King, and a United States Senator who supports him in doing so.  Isn't this what George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln railed against?  When will we, as a people take our Nation back?
